How much will it cost to translate/localize my website?

How long does a translation/localization take?
To have a general idea, we generally can complete about 1500-2000 words per business day, with a minimum turn-around time of 3 days to ensure that every translation goes through the proper editing and production process. However each and every project we do is unique and timeframe will vary on the size and complexity of your project and the number/combination of languages. How do you receive/deliver documents?
Use our Get a Quote form to upload your documents/website for translation. You can also send your documents (PC or Mac compatible) by email (as an attachment) to quotations@traductionweb.net. We can deliver translations by e-mail, fax or mail and we can additionally storage a copy of your documents on our Internet-based server where we can securely keep them to provide you a backup copy of the translation(s) or for future updates.
How do you ensure the confidentiality of documents?
All documents are treated with the highest degree of confidentiality. If you have privacy concerns, we will sign a legally binding nondisclosure agreement and make our translator(s) and PMs sign(s) it too.
Where is Traduction Web registered?
Our main office is located in Canada (company no. 2264834153). We also have an office in Italy.
How do I know how many words my document has?
The easiest way to count them is by using the appropriate tool included in Ms Word or any other word processor.
Who will translate my document?
Expert translators. These are experienced translators who are translating exclusively into their native language. They all have translation related education and practical experience in a specific field(s). In this way, we are able to match the right translator to your document.
What languages does Traduction Web specialize in?
We work mostly with the following languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish.
Do you translate the graphic elements of the website?
Yes. Our localization department can handle all graphics formats such as GIF, JPG, PNG, BMP and banners. They also works in contact with the translators to determine how the graphic elements should be translated and then they resize the text in order to make it fit within the text box provided. We can also provide you a translation in an Excel spreadsheet so that you can localize the content in-house.

What exactly will you do when you translate/localize my website?
1. After you send us the address of your site using our Get a Quote form, we'll download and analyze the site, and give you a quote with no obligation to you.
2. If you accept our proposal, we'll create a detailed plan of the project. For example, we'll determine the format of the files, decide on how to translate the graphics, etc.
3. Next, we will offer you a final, detailed contract that's custom-designed to meet your needs and budget. This contract contains full details on the time frame involved and the final cost, which can no longer be changed.

4.1.a Have you decided to localize your website?
4.2.a. Using a program created exclusively for Traduction Web, our localization technicians will first extract the entire text that is to be translated - a fundamental step for proper localization. Your website probably contains strings of text (such as meta tags and button ToolTips) that cannot be seen upon superficial examination, but which must be translated to obtain a quality result.
4.3.a The text will then be included in a text file and sent to our translators, who will translate the strings while doing their best to maintain the same length, which prevents formatting problems.
4.4.a Our localization technicians will receive the translated file, which will be used to replace the original text of the website. The new version is checked to make sure it meets all required technical standards.
4.5.a The website will be tested with a number of browsers in the relative language(s) to make sure it operates correctly and to uncover any problems associated with formatting, adaptation to new cultures and styles, etc.
4.6.a If problems are found, the strings in question will be sent back to the translators, who will come up with a new translation that solves the problem.

4.1.b Do you only want to translate your website?
Simply translating the text is often not enough. We recommend you use this service only if your webmaster plans to localize your website after receiving our translated text.
4.2.b We will send the text file(s) to our translators, who will translate the strings while doing their best to maintain the same length, which prevents formatting problems.
5. We will have you examine the translation so you can make any changes you feel are necessary.
6. Once you are satisfied with our work, you will receive an invoice that's payable within 30 days.
My website has already been translated, but I'd like to update it. Can you help me?
Sure! If we did the original translation, we'll call up the files from our server and translate only the updates without charging you twice for the same translation. If you have a translated text, we'll need the original files (either text or HTML) so we can work the new content into the original - at no additional cost to you. On the other hand, if the changes require that the website be partially or completely revised, we'll be forced to charge extra for the service.
